[1658708] Transactivation Human Strong A protein containing ATF2 fused to the GAL4 DNA-binding domain activates transcription in transient transfection studies.

Cotransfection of E1A increased transactivation mediated by GAL4-ATF2.

Rob Sladek
[2529117] DNA Binding Human Strong ATF2 (CRE-BP1) was cloned by screening a human brain expression library with a multimerized CRE-binding site. Sequence-specific DNA binding was confirmed by gel shift assay (consensus CRE) and DNAse I footprinting of the rat somatostatin gene promoter and the adenovirus E4 gene promoter using lysogen-synthesized protein. Rob Sladek
[9139739] DNA Binding Rat Strong ATF-2 binds as a dimer to a consensus CRE site (5'-GATCAGCATTACCTCATCCC-3') and a chimeric C/EBP-CRE site (5'-GATCGCCGTGACGCAATCTC-3') but not to a consensus C/EBP site (5'-TGCAGATTGCGCAATCTGCA-3') in gel shift assays. Rob Sladek
[10909971] Transactivation Human Strong ATF2 activates a reporter containing luciferase expressed under the control of the human insulin promoter in transient transfections of HIT-T15 insulinoma cells.

A protein containing ATF2 fused to the GAL4 DNA-binding domain activates a 5xGAL4-TATA-luciferase reporter gene in transient transfections of HeLa cells.

Cotransfection of CaMKIV increased transactivation mediated by GAL4-ATF2 on a a 5xGAL4-TATA-luciferase reporter gene in transient transfections of HeLa cells.

ATF2 demonstrates transactivation as an intact protein and a GAL4 fusion protein in transient transfection assays. An ATF2 homodimer binds to specific DNA sequences in gel shift assays.
