[12215258] DNA Binding; Transactivation Mouse Strong Competition and supershift analysis of the complexes formed at sites identified by DNAse I footprints in the prmoter sequence of C/EBPβ indicates that they contain AP-1 family factors.

Cotransfection experiments showed that ATF2 and c-Jun activate the C/EBPβ gene expression cooperatively through the identified sites.

[15494506] DNA Binding; Transactivation Mouse Strong Identification of AP-1 complex binding to the IL-13 promoter in mast cells is performed by EMSA.

Transfection of an expression plasmid encoding an N-terminally truncated form of c-jun reported to work in a dominant-negative fashion reduces significantly the induction of luciferase activity of the reporter gene. These findings suggest that AP-1 activity plays a critical role in the transcriptional activation of the IL-13 gene.
